IT’S A MUTANT!
“Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Grauburgunder, all the same grape, are actually mutations of the Pinot Noir grape from Burgundy, France… Grauburgunder sounds like you’re eating a bear, or perhaps the bear is eating you.”
Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Grauburgunder, all the same grape, are actually mutations of the Pinot Noir grape from Burgundy, France. It sounds sexier when you call it a Pinot Grigio! Somehow it conjures up visions of summer on the Amalfi Coast. Grauburgunder sounds like you’re eating a bear, or perhaps the bear is eating you. Depends on the day.
The grape is actually closer to red than white and can end up as a golden yellow or even pink wine. It all depends on the winemaker and the style preferred. Italians tend towards the lighter more acidic style, whereas Oregon tends to the richer style. California? You figure it out!
All you have to do is order a flight of Pinot Grigios and compare them all. What fun! We’ll be offering them for the month of July. Ask your server!
SEGUE INTO GOLF………
On June 4, 2018 we held our 21st Annual Scott’s Golf Tournament, a benefit for UC Davis Cancer Research and raised over $30k this year. We lost count of how much we have donated over the years but it’s in excess of $300k. Not bad for a bunch of divot munching mad hackers!
It’s more fun than fundraising, with food and refreshments (adult and other) on the course, in-round contests, lunch and dinner included, a fun raffle at the end with lots of great prizes, a couple of special auctions and great golf for both the beginner and the pro. Good times, need practice……
