START YOUR ENGINES, THE HOLIDAYS ARE ALMOST HERE!
“We’re drinking whisk(e)y on Monday November 4 with Chris, whose extensive knowledge of spirits will become immediately apparent.”
We are starting off the month with a Japan v Scotland Whisk(e)y tasting. See how I did that, Japanese Whiskey v Scotch Whisky. Is there an “e” in whisky? So, the rule is: If there is an “e” in the name of the country, there is an “e” in whiskey. No “e” in the name of the country, no “e” in whisky. Thus, America=Whiskey and Scotland=whisky and well, Japan does its own thing. I don’t know why it’s so important, but I think national pride may have something to do with it. We made it first, so we get to spell it, something like that.

We’re drinking whisk(e)y on Monday November 4 with Chris, whose extensive knowledge of spirits will become immediately apparent. 3 Japanese whiskies and 3 Scotch whiskies (in plurals the spelling is all the same) with accompaniments by Chef Brandon Meadows. The last time we did a Scotch tasting, the Tower Room smelled of Scotch for days! I think I did too.
Thanksgiving is of course the big event in November, and we will be serving early breakfast, then Thanksgiving Dinner 11am-8pm, featuring Diestel Ranch Turkey and all the fixin’s, plus selections from our regular menu. I always have the Turkey and a glass of King Estate Pinot Noir. A perfect dinner with no all-day cooking, no mess and no dishes to do. Then right into December. The holidays will be here before we know it, so take a breath and get ready for the craziness, and perhaps a night off on Monday December 9, when we will be hosting a Champagne and Caviar Tasting featuring Passmore Ranch Caviar.
Thank you for again making Scott’s Seafood on the River Sacramento’s Favorite Seafood Restaurant and Best River Dining in Sacramento Magazine’s Best of Sacramento. We all appreciate it greatly!
